Learning Journey to Geylang Serai

On 19th July, the Malay Language Department organized a learning journey to Geylang Serai wet market and the Malay Village. P1 and P2 Malay pupils, as well as selected P2 Chinese and Tamil pupils, went on the trip.

The first stop was the Malay Village, where pupils visited the Kampung Museum and got to experience kampung life in the ‘Kampung Days’ showcase. Pupils had the opportunity to try many traditional Malay games and also better understand 'kampung' life.

Next stop was the Geylang Serai wet market. Pupils visited different stalls and had the chance to talk to different stall owners and find out more about the things that they see in the market.

P1 and P2 TAF Games Day

Lower Primary Family Games Day

In line with our Strategic Thrust, Character Our Focus, we believe that promoting healthy lifestyle will enhance the pupils’ well-being. As such, Yangzheng Primary School organized a Family Games Day for Primary 1 and Primary 2 TAF Club members. The aim of the activity is to enable pupils to recognize the need to exercise and to introduce fun filled physical activities to the pupils. Our parents were encouraged to attend as some of the games were specially created for parents’ involvement. This was in conjunction with the National Family Week 2007. Parents and pupils had a great time playing the games such as the “Piggy-back” and the “3-legged race”. Parents were given souvenirs and pupils were given certificates for their participation.

为了让一二年级的学生更了解各种族的语言与文化,养正小学母语部的教师们举办了为期三天的语言与文化活动。学生在这三天里参与了“食物品尝”活动、“舞蹈”活动,和“讲故事与儿歌朗诵”活动。

To facilitate better understanding of the language and culture of different races, our Mother Tongue department has specially organized the “Language & Culture Activities” for our Primary One and Two pupils. The activities include a food-tasting session, a mass dance session, as well as a storytelling and poem recitation ses

Primary One Orientation

Primary One Orientation Week

Our school worked with Center for Father to have a “Back to school with Dad” day where dads are encouraged to fetch their child to school or back from school. Our primary one pupils had a week of orientation to start off the year. Parents waited anxiously for their children to be settled before they left their little ones with our primary one teachers.

Pupils were given a tour of school and shown ways to cross the road safely. They played ice-breaking games in class to get to know their teacher and classmates better. Teachers also collected books and got their pupils to learn the school rules. Pupils also had the chance to decorate their school values display.

There was even an orientation booklet where pupils answer all types of questions about the school. They did very well and many parents gave good feedback about it.
